Entrepreneurship and Creation of new Entrepreneurial Ventures

Targets of the Course

  • The familiarization of the students with the concept of Entrepreneurship
  • The organization of visits of successful businessmen and presentation of their experiences, through dialogue with students
  • The familiarization of the students with the concept of a business plan, as used in the public and private sector
  • The theoretical and practical analysis of all individual characteristics comprising a business plan, as a corporate development tool
  • The critical presentation of business plan cases of Greek and foreign organizations
  • The students' practice in creating a business plan

Content of the Course

Curriculum (4 hours)

  1. Introduction in the concept of entrepreneurship
  2. Entrepreneurship (international practices and statistics). Definition of business planning, uses, requirements, applications, Greek particularities
  3. Business plan as a strategic tool for the development of an organization. The case of GROUP IKEA (furniture). The individual elements of business planning in the public and private sector (similarities – differences). Presentation of the experiences of a businessman (A)
  4. Analysis of the external environment. Presentation of the experiences of a businessman (B)
  5. Analysis of the internal environment Presentation of the experiences of a businessman (C)
  6. Strengths and Weaknesses Analysis (Swot Analysis) / Organization of Development Strategies. Presentation of the experiences of a businessman (D)
  7. Presentation of a Business Plan through 2234/94 and 1892. Case Study Presentation of foreign companies


Grades are based on the evaluation of the project prepared (by student groups) of a complete business plan, during which, students will practice in the application of the concepts of this Course.

For the determination of final grades, the following shall be taken into account:

  1. The quality of the presentation
  2. The quality of the Business Plan and
  3. Participation at the discussions in the classroom
